If you're like me, you have been VERY frustrated that Arbiter sends you all kinds of notifications regarding new games, cancelled games, changed games, changed partners, etc, but they DO NOT notify you when you've received a payment in ArbiterPay. Because of this, you're left constantly checking and rechecking your ArbiterPay balance to see if/when you have been paid. Worse - you check it months after the fact and realize that hundreds or even thousands of dollars have been sitting there doing nothing.
Well.....
Here's how you can set ArbiterPay to notify you via email when you receive an ArbiterPay payment. It's admittedly confusing as to why Arbiter didn't put this setting in Arbiter itself instead of having to log in to a completely different site, but here goes:
Step 1) Go to www.arbiterpay.com
If you're on the computer, click the green Login button at the top right of the screen:
If you're on a phone, tap the two-line menu thing at the top right of the screen and tap 'Login':
Step 2) Use THE SAME LOGIN NAME AND PASSWORD that you use to log in to the regular Arbiter Site
Step 3) Click/tap the 'My Profile' option on the red menu on the left:
Step 4) Click/tap the 'My Preferences' button at the top right under 'My Profile'
Step 5) IMPORTANT: Click/Tap the 'Modify' button at the bottom of the Preferences screen:
Step 6) At the top of the Preferences you will see 'Email Notifications'. Here is where you will change the option that says you want to receive notification when there is a 'Transfer From Other User'. This non-intuitive description should say "When I get paid", but in ArbiterPay-speak this means when a paying entity (i.e. a school) 'transfers' money to you. Change that option to 'Yes'. You DO NOT need to check the second option of being notified when money is transferred to another user, since you won't be paying anyone. So your options should now look like on the screenshot below.
Step 7) VERY IMPORTANT - MAKE SURE YOU NOW GO TO THE BOTTOM of the screen and hit the Save Button.
You are now done. Going forward, when you get paid in ArbiterPay you will receive an email that says something equally non-intuitive and cryptic saying that will look like this screenshot, which is more ArbiterPay-speak telling you that you got paid:
Weird as all of this is, it does work and you will now be notified when you get paid.
